Logitech's making a splash into the home automation market with its newest Harmony Smart Control remote control lineup. While the remotes and smartphone applications carry the same look and feel from last years models, this years products come with the added bonus of extending their control capabilities beyond your home entertainment center and/or home theater equipment. But fear not existing owners as you can gain the same capabilities the new devices offer.
Home automation is a big pond and with control via IR, Bluetooth, and WiFi, Logitech's new gear can support control for a number of products. What new things can you control in your home? And if that's not enough to sate your lust for home control, the $129 Harmony Hub Extender adds in support for ZigBee and Z-Wave devices.
Shipping now and located at an electronics retailer near you, the new devices range from the $99 Home Hub which allows you to use your smartphone or tablet as a home automation controller, to $149 for the Home Control which adds a simple, button-only remote to the package, to the $349 Harmony Ultimate Home, which replaces the button-only remote for a remote with a 2.4 inch touch screen remote (seen in picture above).
